Mother Nurture makes products that are made by mothers for mothers, and taste-tested by mothers too. Their ready-to-eat recipes are science-backed and made keeping Indian tastes in mind. The recipes all contain fresh ingredients sourced locally and from countries like South Africa and North America. And they are all 100% preservative-free. Mother Nurture is proud of the fact that they offer clean-label baby and toddler foods in India
What are clean-label baby foods?
It is almost an industry norm for the food industry to place hidden ingredients on their label under the obscure banner of ‘contains added flavours and colours’. But a true clean label ingredients product lists out all the ingredients with clear names, that can be looked up by anyone at any time. Mother Nurture’s products are truly clean-label.
So, when the label reads ‘contains ascorbic acid’ it is easy to check that ascorbic acid is simply a Vitamin C nutritional supplement, vital for growing babies. The brand also keeps harmful additives such as synthetic food colouring, nitrates/nitrites, traces of heavy metals, soy, sucrose, etc out of their recipes.
Additionally, the brand ensures that there are no harmful additives in any of its products. Whether it is preservatives or the seemingly harmless additions of sugar for taste. There are none of those here. The brand also processed fruits, vegetables and grains differently. With the expertise of technical lead and partner, Australian food processing expert Glen Cox, the company used production methods that retain the ingredients’ natural goodness and nutrients. The foods are hygienically processed and packed in a facility that has all FSSAI certifications in place. And even after packing, the product’s triple-layer packaging and seal ensure that there is no chance of microbial contamination.
Added sugar, good or bad?
As mothers start weaning babies off breastmilk and onto other foods, they are often plagued with self-doubt. Is the baby not eating because the food is bland? Is the baby not eating because the food isn’t sweet? But these are simply doubts that arise from the baby not eating enough other foods, simply because the baby is transitioning slowly.
In fact, both salt and sugar are bad when given to babies too early. Starting sugar early leaves your baby susceptible to diabetes and other ailments later in life. Sugar is also the main culprit when it comes to tooth decay. There are similar health implications with salt.
Mother Nurture’s earliest-stage baby foods hence do not contain both. Any sweetness in the recipes is derived only from the fruit. Additionally, all products are also GMO-free.
